Around 57,000 candidates were gathered from five independent signals: canonisation status, feast day, class, category walks across 129 wiki sections, and name categories in 230 language editions. After checking, 14,530 remain — 10,572 principal and 3,958 local or modern.
Every inclusion and every rejection carries a written reason and can be reversed. The rejections are the interesting part: Christ himself came through the pool as a saint, as did the Buddha, Maradona and Che Guevara, along with cities and feast days standing in for people.
The catalogue holds individual persons only. It runs as an internal service and has no public address yet, which is a decision rather than an oversight.
